Kid Friendly Dental Care
Good oral health is an essential part of a child’s overall growth and development, and it’s important for children to have positive dental visits so they feel comfortable at the dentist’s office. At Smile Structure Dentistry & Braces, we understand the importance of helping your child feel at ease in the dental chair and know this can lead to a lifetime of healthier smiles. Our entire team has a friendly and gentle manner that will help you and your child feel comfortable.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
Unsure when to bring your child in for his or her first dental checkup? The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry both recommend that children visit a dentist by their first birthday. At Smile Structure, we have a board certified pediatric specialist in the office and a kind and welcoming staff to help you and your child feel at ease.
Your role in making your child’s first visit to the dentist a positive experience is critical. Talk positively about the visit in the days leading up to it and let them know it’s nothing to be scared of. Once you arrive, let our friendly staff take great care of your child!
Our team are your partners in providing a positive first visit for your child. We ensure this through the following:
- All staff members have a gentle, caring nature
- We use kid-friendly language to help kids understand what’s going on
- Kids can touch some of the dental instruments, which lets them feel involved in their appointment
- General anesthesia and oral conscious sedation are available to help anxious children feel more relaxed
In both of our convenient San Antonio office locations, we have created areas especially for children who come to visit. Bring your child in for a visit, and we’re sure they won’t mind coming back! We offer amenities such as:
- Coloring Station
- Video Games
- Toys & Books
- Movie Theater Area Showing Current Kid Favorites
Preventive Dentistry for Kids
Prevention and early detection are key components of our dental health philosophy. Our goal is to resolve issues before they become serious, minimizing the time and cost of your child’s dental care.
One way we aim to prevent dental issues is with sealants. Sealants fill in grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where food particles easily get trapped and cause cavities. Dental sealants can protect your child’s teeth for years to come, and the application process is quick and comfortable.
